Actually it was allegedly a ballistic missile - with enough range to reach California.

And I don't think Japan is amused:- "Chief Cabinet Secretary Takeo Kawamura told reporters that Japan was asking for an emergency U.N. Security Council meeting and would seek a new resolution by the council."
