85 County Indicator stalk Hi Beam probs

Anyone have a fix for the common problem of inadvertent activation of high beam when using the ind stalk.
Is an indent spring or something worn or broken?

it is usually a melted plastic switch assembly.

fix is to buy a new one and then fit a traxide headlight upgrade kit so the new one never gets enough load on it that it overheats and melts.

    Thanks Guys
Approx cost of Traxide upgrade and benefits?
Can this be overcome by switching a relay for headlights.
I'll check if the previous owner didn't have the driving lights direct through the Stalk switch !!!
    Thanks

a relay is all you need, but the traxide kit does it all elegantly and is easily removed if you wish upgrade to another vehicle.

I had a similar problem with my idicator stalk on my defender. I only had to lightly touch it and it would pop out of high or vise versa. Or even a light bump in the road was enough.

If the idicator stalk in the county is similar then I found it to be the indent pin was worn and the retaining spring weak . I was trying to fix it but ended up just buying another indicator assembly.

My light switch did eventually burn out and replaced that as well. To date it is still working despite not running in a relay yet. Another one of the jobs to do on my never ending improvement list.
