    My Series 2

    Hi all

If the motor is knackered in my series 2 what would be involved in fitting a
200 tdi to it. Could it be done or would I be better fitting the original
    2lltr diesel?

    Cheers Ian

Original would have been a 2.25 Diesel which should bolt straight back in (assuming they didn't hack any of the mounts)

200tdi starts getting expensive, but it is much more useable apparently so it may well be worth it.

Last time I heard the little Toymota going it was sweet as a nut though... Has it gone south since then has it?

Assuming your motor is still running ok, I would be more concerned about your gearbox! That motor puts out a lot more torque than the little series box is used to!

I might be jumping the gun here, I have massive amounts of white smoke when he fires, it's enough to put a Gold Coast council mosquito patrol to shame. It might just be the valve stem seals need replacing and the rubbers around the rear canopy to keep it out, I wont get time to look at it now until the middle of July though, so it will just have to wait.

It sounds more like over-fuelling to me (I presume it is a diesel engine). If so get the pump timing checked.

Burning oil tends to give a blue colour to the smoke,
