    TD5 Fuel tank breather pipe...extension

    Need advice please...

Having extended both my axle, T/Box and gearbox breathers up into the engine bay (some time ago) Im now left wondering what to do with the fuel tank breather.

It always strikes me as a stupid pleace to leave it (under the rear wheel arch) and I know you guys have problems with it over there.

So where do you extend it to???

Is it possible to extend it forwards to the engine bay and up the snorkel as well? Also, do you leave the non-return valve where it is or move that to the end of the breather?

One of my concerns is air flow along the pipe if its extended too much - is that a known problem or do you get around it by increasing the pipe diameter along the extension??

    Thanks
    Jon
    Regards,
    Jon

Thanks dullbird. Does that mean that you leave the TD5's as standard?

Hi my one had a non return valve but extended high along with all the gearbox, diffs etc as a precaution, TD5 was better and had more FUel filters in its fuel system
Talked to a Ex Landrover dealer mechanic here in NZ (Really knows his stuff and was wasted at the dealer) He extended the PUMA ones either high in the left back guard or forward to snorkel height or bulkhead, He said it was a weakness alright!!! and used a slightlylarger pipe if he extended it way forward to make sure it could "breathe" also put in a simple fuel filter at the end so it would trap any mosture coming in but could breath out
