    land rover as school project

hey all i am in yr 11 and im doing automotives. and for a yr 12 major project i am restoring a 1953 series 1.and part of the requirements for a major project is that you need to design parts of it and im tying to think of what i can design for it without changing it to much.if any of you guys can think of suggestions for me that would be tops because i would hate to do this project(such a big one) and get knocked back because i did not design things

I doubt you'll be able to 'design' anything from the ground up for a restoration, though you will be able to make reproduction parts if any are missing, from your own designs.
Otherwise, think about removable accessories such as a bullbar, recovery points or a second fuel tank. Or learn about spring rates and design a set of springs and have them manufactured?
Also, your Landy has a couple of power take offs that you could design an accessory for, be it a winch, pump, generator or such. Look at the youtube vids made by Land Rover back in the days of series 1s for inspiration.
    Hope that helps,
    -Mark

Design a awesome shooting rack with pto powered winch to lift up the big pigs. A shooting light attachment to go onto the rollbar would be good also not to mention all the necessary attachments to the racks and gun rests for the rest of the car that would make an awesome shooting rig

Once you get an A (assuming your teacher isn't a greanie ), I'll buy all the gear off you for my series 1 hahahah. Mine is an 80" so design accordingly

Seriously though, leaf springs are a great idea as well as anything pto powered. Does it count if you design speciality tools for the restoration? - that would be a good avenue to explore.

Wish my school had this sort of cool stuff...

Why dont you build up some kind of hybrid offroad beast, using series parts and a range rover chassis/running gear, design all the suspension links your self, it would be a lot of fun to build and alot of fun to play with when your done
