    dual mass flywheel

    What are the symptoms of a dual mass flywheel beginning to die?

    in low first on flat ground it would creap forward when i selected the gear.
    and mine also had clutch flare.

    FLYWHEEL

    Can you elaborate on the creep forward part in low first..

    But there seems to ba a bit of flare creeping in...

    select low range. car at idle. foot on clutch. select 1st. mine crept forward about 10cm.

    How noticeable was the flare, and how bad was the flywheel when you got it out?

    BAD!

    i knew it was there, and with all the mods and the chip all i had to do was touch the loud pedal under 1800rpm and she would hit 4500rpm for a few sec and grip...

    my last one was due to someone trying to machine it and not understand what happens to cast steel when it gets hot...

    this is the result of the previous owner.


    the dark sections are where the clutch plate has stopped, after being ridden. they are also .017thou higher than the lighter sections.
    so after it was machined the high spots (flamin hard, to hard to machine) were all the clutch was biting on.

    yes, i put another DM in, they are there for a reason, i also got a price i couldnt turn down on a complete kit.

    also at the time bearmach had returned all there solid FW's to their supplier because of failures

    they are available in oz but for $1800 just for the solid FW.....nope not for me
