    I think their max rating is for about "400" kg's, have used them for lifting engines and stuff,,(even thats scary)

    If you wish to work out the SWL/WLL of a cable square the Dia and multiply by 10,
    e.g. 6mm dia 6 strand wire rope = 6x6x10 =360Kg SWL, GBS would be around 1800kg, 7 strand winch/tirfor wire add about 20%, Regards Frank.

    It says it is rated to lift 4000 pounds, which is nowhere near 4 tonnes. Even so, I wouldn't like to try it...

    Well - 4000Lb is about 2000Kg, which has got to still be wildly optimistic for that little thing. Maybe 200Kg.....

    Indeed - it says 8000lb pulling and 4000lb lifting. So 3.6T pulling and 1.8T lifting. However as Tanks calcs show, 1.8T is probably the failure load rather than the SWL.
