plastic weld bars if done correct are unidentifiable that they are repaired. so would only be him ad the repair guys that know. they are usually a very good job. as for the rights of the insurer, read the fine print on the policy.
My son hit a wallaby the othe day with his beamer, got 2 quotes as per request.
1- $1400
2- $1200
rounded figures, the $1400 quote list more parts
$1200 quoted has been awarded the job
Both quotes quoted the replacement of the bumper
Now the insurance company want to plastic weld it, not a huge amount of damage but its my sons pride and joy and he wants a new one (only $430). His arguement is it wasnt plastic welded before the animal strike why should it be later.
Is it worth persuing with the onbusmon
cheers

I'd've thought that if the steel under the plastic of the bumper is bent then the whole thing needs to be replaced.
usually 2 pieces, a bar reinforce and the cover. cover usually only held on with some plastic clips or screws into the reo
These days it is usually some aluminium and a lot of high density foam behind the bumper cover.
A bit late now but with an iinsurance company wanting two quotes I would have thought that you would be better off going to the most fastidious [expensive] repair shops around to get the best quality work. After all, your excess is going to be the same no matter what the bottom line on the bill is.
