    VMS GPS

I am considering buying a VMS Touring 500 GPS.
Has anybody any thoughts on this brand as it appears to be fairly new on the market. Also, it seems to support several different types of mapping formats. Or am I wrong on this point?

    Tony,

Just ordered mine earlier this week, but wont be here until next. As I wanted to be able to use a reversing camera it was either the VMS or a Garmin nuvi 5000.

From what I could find on the net, it seemed like it is easier to load alternative maps on the VMS. There is a GPS forum (GPS Australia .:GPS Australia:.) that I found most of the info on. Apparently Garmin are proprietary maps/software. VMS has been around for a little while. They provided the guts to the Hema Navigator, but I have been informed that relationship has now dissolved.

    Cheers

Brick is correct re the Hema. The 500 is a good unit, recommended.
