			Air con gas.......

I'm taking my County to get the air conditioning re gassed tomorrow, as it seems to have leaked out via the compressor.
Is the gas required a standard one for all car units ?? or should it have any particular type ?? I'm afraid I know very little about air conditioning

Most auto air systms these days are on R134a.

Earlier systms, pre around 1994,depending on make, were good old R12.Most of these systms would have been changed to R134a by now.

If yours is on R12,it may cost a bit to change it over.If it is on 134a,no problems.
The most important thing is that the leak it repaired correctly, and the drier changed if the systm has been open to the atmosphere.

 good luck

It looks like the "Isuzu" lump has rattled something loose at the back of the compressor, (could be where it's filled) the air con guy spotted it as he was giving it a quick check over. He just said it would cost $110 all in, to check system, re seal leaks and fill with gas.

He should know what type to use .......shouldn't he ??

Trust him. They can't get the old gas anyway.
Our local bloke puts oil in the compresor when ever he does a recharge.
A Ultra Violet leak test should also be done. (Purple light and I think yellow glasses).
Might have to put a jumper on after it's done!

 Cheers.
