    Talking D2 Laptop Setup

Hey guys, just thought I'd post some pics up of my laptop install in the D2:

Dell Mini 9 ($525.00 Good Guys)
    Perspex mounting plate ($8.00)
RAM universal mount ($75.00 from BCF)
    Tension Straps ($12.00/pr Bunnings)
(going to eventually change straps for quick release clamps of some sort)

Running OziExplorer and Bluetooth OBD-II reader.
    RAVE on SD card.

The RAM mount is excellant and can adjust all over the place to accomodate having a passenger, and no where near the price of the big 3 legged tripod systems. Though I have to admit I need to try it for sturdiness off-road, but early signs look positive! Will let you know after August Harvey "Mud" trip!!

    Cheers,

    Well done.

Looking good there, mate. Wouldn't mind having a look when we go down to Harvey next month. Cheers, Jurgens
PS: How did you go with the compressor?

Looks sweet Kieren. Particularly like that mount. Had a further play with ubuntu the other day and have figured out the starting software at startup issue.

    cheers

    Thanks!
Unfortunately there was no way I could get the OBD-II software working with Ubuntu (something due to the way the OBD software has to look up ports, that Ubuntu doesn't like), so have had to revert back to XP.....

For now anyway, till I get it sorted!

    Cheers,

Mate, I love those arms, and will probably upgrade to one in the near future.
Where from and how much, if you don't mind me asking?

    Just a few Q's though....
Am i right in thinking it mounts by just one bolt point?
Have you got a pic of the mounting point?
Do you think its stable enough on the really rough stuff?

    Cheers,

It bolts to the front seat mount. I've used a supplied angle bracket but if you wanted to 'destroy' the plastic cover in front of the bolt you could just bolt the mount point straight on.

It does wobble slightly but this is only the angle bracket flexing. If mounted directly it would not move at all.

Unfortuneatly I haven't hit the tough stuff in the disco yet, but in my old hilux with the mount bolted directly to the seat mount it survived without any probs.

    Got it from EBay.

Love it, I have just done the gunbarrel with mine sitting on the passenger seat, not the best but it worked. I was running Hema maps and a usb mouse.
    cheers
