Question D3 Rubber and 16" rims

Gidday, new member first time post, my background, one rangie ute with a big block chev, one defender now sold on after pushrods bent in the NT and a 2009 D3 thats gotta be the best thing yet! anyway my question......
Looking at the threads on D3 rubber I was wondering if anyone is making steel rims for the D3, thinking a 16" hoop with a fabricated D3 centre welded in?
I have had rims for rangies and defenders made before is it not possible for the D3?

The brakes are too big on the D3 for 16" wheels.
17" is the smallest you can go on some models, 18" on others.

Aftermarket 17" steel wheels are readily available.
