    Affordable off road tyres???

Again its easier to ask people who have set up a good 4b before what they run. I now have a set of disco rims 16x7's so the big Question now is Tyres, Allround off road tyre that does the job well but wont cost the earth. Wouldn't mind MTZ's 33's. but its always better to ask questions first not later. So idea's PLZ.
    cheers

I assume you mean All terrain tyres here W110. Hmmm - compromises have to be made with these ATs and achieving a balance can be tricky. I've had a great run out of Bridgestone Desert Duellers LT Mud and Snow 604Vs. Not one puncture on any of the Victorian high country tracks. They have put in a good solid performance over all - and very economical to purchase.

    W110,

I have had good experiences with Silverstone AT117, they are a good copy of the BFG All terrain, and more affordable.

Also, Toyo OPAT M55 seems to be a good strong tyre for 110's

I'm using Nankang Mudstar MT 265/75/16's on disco rims, I think I paid $215 each including fitting and balancing.

They seem pretty good on and off road, but they can be a bit scarey on wet/greasy roads so I tend to slow down a little They are also wearing well.

i'll second that! the AT117's are very close in pattern to the bfg but a bit more open. i paid $170 fitted for 265 75 16's....then i sold them with the 90.
also GT radial savero at's couldnt kill them either.

    cheers phil

If your set of Disco Rims is for a 2nd set of off road tyres, then you can

    (1) spend more money on the tyres you want, as they won't be worn down on the road and will end up lasting a decade.

    or

    (2) get a good 2nd hand set on ebay for the price of one and a half tyres, and not worry when you tear & puncture them.

I bought a set of Custom Xtra Grips for the SIII, which I now use on the Defender for extreme 4WDing, and I get my road tyres 2nd hand. I try for 7.50x16 tyres all around for cross compatibility, it also means I can buy almost new 2nd hand tyres from someone whose bought a 70 Series Land Cruiser and wants to change to fat tyres.

I put Hankook Dynapro mud tyres on mine, $275 ea for 33's...although they did stuff up the price, i think they are $330 or something normally, they seem pretty good to me..
