air suspension leak???

hi , the air suspension lifts the disco up when you start it most mornings or after it has been stopped for awhile, access mode is not on it just pumps up to normal height, no tones, a couple of times it seems to have lowered, just after leaving as well. anyone else had this problem, is a 2006, still under warranty,, cheers ken

Depends how much it's moving. It will 'adjust' itself when leaving and entering again.

If it's dropped on all four corners overnight, then there maybe a leak.

Mine often "sighs" when I park it and then settles a bit lower. Will occasionally go updown/left/right at traffic lights. Always has done this and I put it down to self levelling.

My wife wants me to detect it and have the car say "excuse me please" when it happens on parking.

Actually my D3 is quite loud, so when I finally get around to having a carputer monitoring the can bus, I'll probably do it

If you are really concerned why not pull the 20A compresser fuse (In the fuse box under bonnet next to battery) after you are satisfied level at normal drive height etc and see where it ends up. Will give you a suspension fault alarm and turn specail programs off so don't push too hard driving. Should give you an idea as to whether there is a leak or not in pretty short order. For other reasons I had to do this on a recent trip as due to a bad wheel alignment and I mean steering wheel at around 40degrees for straight ahead, it would drop to low access height. (the steering angle sensor is constantly feeding in data way for a fairly hard turn so after a while the ECU gives up and turns special programmes off and lowers the suspension for safety given it does not know waht is going on.) In order to drive the 1000 kms or so the nearest alignment centre I pulled the fuse. Even though the ECU was telling it to lower it couldn't. In all that time fully laoded and towing I did not feel that I had dropped lower than normal drive height at all. In other words no leaking at all. That included one session over and around Big Red out on the edge of the Simpson in off road height. Again I set it at off road height before turning off and pulling the fuse.
The dealer will simply clear the faults registered in the ECU next service. No other after effects once you replace the fuse.
And yes in daily parking and driving I experience the same as all the others have stated.
