    Diff lock hassles

    G'day,

My Stage 1 (Isuzu/ser 111/LT95) has for the first time refused to disengage CDL. It has always been rather good (better than my old rangie) with instant engaging and prompt disengaging (although always required a change into high range first). I have tried all the tricks that i used to need with the Hange-Over, s-turns, reversing, gently pushing against the handbrake etc. No joy

Any advice before I jack her up?

P.s Has anyone got rid of the vacuum system and used a mechanical system (I can dimly recall that my RAAF landie didnt have the vaccum)

I am pretty sure the military ones use the vacuum actuator.
I had this happen once and the diaphragm was stuffed enough to get it engaged but not good enough to disengage it.
All this on the 80 Mile Beach in WA ended up using the air compressor to disengage it.

I've removed the vacuum actuator off mine and am half way through making a lever to do it instead. Unfortunatley I damaged the actuator removing it.

There is at least one more person on here who has removed the vacuum set up as well.
