There are two different seals, 272596 x 2, and 272597 x 1 for reverse. Check that he has ordered with these numbers.

hello again, i am in the process of replacing selector shaft seals on my series 2a due to leaks but have come across some problems and really need some help.
i ordered all the correct part numbers from graham at british car components but have been given some incorrect parts.
3 seals are needed in total but it seems the seal supplied for the reverse shaft is too big in diameter and also not tapered like the book states it should be.
of the 2 other seals for 1st/2nd shaft and 3rd/4th shaft, one of them is a nice fit on the shaft with a tapered profile whilst the other is too loose and not tapered.
being the top bloke that he is, graham has helped all he can to rectify the problem but it seems all he can do is order more seals in the hope that they will be correct this time around.
in the event that the parts are no better than what i have now, i would like to know if there is anything that can be done to fix this. is there anything that people have found to be a good substitute for the part i need?
any help would be greatly appreciated. thankyou kindly, marcello

						thanks for your reply,
i am aware of the 2 different sizes and the associated part numbers so i ordered accordingly. the problem is not with the part numbers but in the fact that the supplier is sending graham parts of questionable quality.
is there any thing i can use as a substitute to the original?
the loctite make an o ring kit will get you out of trouble, Me I just ring MR auto tell them what I want to build and give them a credit card number.
the right bits turn up.

I hate to say it but you could go to a stealer and buy genuine. It's not like these things should cost a lot.
