    why do we do it.

    just had my old mate put down after 14 years with us.

    never gets any easier dam it....

    Sorry to hear that too, Dave - it's not easy with pets - we have just shelled out $1500.00 on our 2 cats. The upside is they seem to be full of beans again.

    Really sorry to hear mate. It's never easy as they are unconditional love.

    We've been through an emotional roller coaster here over the last few days, our gorgeous 14 YO Lab has the big C which we've been managing for near six months months now, but it looked like the time was now on Monday/Tuesday due to a Staph infection in the tumour.
    We all feared it was an MRSA (Antibiotic resistant) so she was getting lots of attention, lots of tears and not much work done for a few days.

    Had the call yesterday that it was beatable with AB's and she's bounced back really quickly, (we'd been piling ones for anaerobes into her too, it was a double whammy of bugs) so we've had a reprieve for the time being....

    Sorry it is hard loose a good friend, our pet is over 11 and I do not know for how long we are going to keep her
    We are monitoring her condition and we can see that soon we have to make a decision which it is not easy at all

    Sorry to hear - but it happens, their expected lifespan is shorter than ours. Perhaps worse from the dog's point of view is if you leave them.
