Central locking remote control- switch u/s
94 Range Rover soft-dash classic;
the central locking remote is u/s, sometimes I can lock it first try, other times it takes a dozen presses, and I can stand there pressing the button for nearly a minute before it will unlock, then it locks again when I release the button and the alarm goes off. Very annoting.
I think the problem is the actual switch component in the remote- does anyone know if this can be replaced? It's a little 4-pronged momentary switch. Or is it possible to get a new remote and get it programmed to the car for less than a fortune?

It should be the single button fob model - get a magnifying glass and have a look at the soldered connections - I've had one instance where the battery holder and negative return had a dodgy joint, causing a similar malfunction. Whilst the button is similar to that available at jaycar, it's just that bit different, and might require some adaption before you can use it.
If it packs up totally, and you want to remain with the factory remote, I found it was far cheaper to get a whole 2nd hand UK alarm and a few UK remotes rather than a new Oz version alarm fob.
Have a look here as well

Yowser!!! Fifty quid plus shipping from the UK.
I was stripping an old car cassette player today for some components, I salvaged a momentary switch out of it and replaced the one in my remote with it- perfect.
