My RRS's tyres only have 2mm left after 19000km, is it normal?

I got a RRS TDV8 2009MY, after 19000km driving, it only has 2mm left on all 4 tyres.
Is it normal? How much are the tyres cost, mine is Continental 275/40 R20 106Y.
Is this the best one on the market? How about Bridgestone's Dueler HP Sport and Michelin's Diamaris.

Unfortunately the Contisport tyres wear out very fast. If you want a road based tyre, the General Grabber UHP is good, as are the michelins, a more all-terrain type with good wear rates is the Pirelli Scorpion ATR. You'll get more info from a rrs dedicated forum like rrsport.co.uk.

Hey, the factory fitted 255/55/R18 Goodyear Wranglers on my 2008 RRS were rubbish and also wore really badly. Plus, they were very easily punctured on the dirt. Soon got tired of flat tyres (something I hadn't experienced a lot 'til then!)
At 12,000kms - after a lot of research - swapped to new Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S 265/60/R18. Good looking tyres which I saw fitted to another touring RRS which had already been round Australia, across the Simpson etc...towing a caravan! Showing very little wear. Although these tyres are larger,a major plus is that the spare still fits underneath and after another 12,000kms is proving to be a really good tyre in all conditions with no noticable wear. Extra tyre wall height (from140.20mm to158.75mm) gives a better ride. The increased overall diameter (from 737.61mm to 774.95mm) is within Qld transport requirements and raise the road clearance by +37.34mm...a real plus. Just have to remember that speedo is out by 5% at 100km/hr...Speedo reads 95 when actual speed is 100km/hr.

Recently swapped from Duellers to Cooper ATR's on my wife's Freelander and they made a huge difference to handling and were a lot quieter on the highway. They are warranted for 60,000Km and very reasonably priced too. They do a 275/55R20 which might be a little tall (811mm) and throw out your speedo though.

I run Cooper H/T Plus on my P38A Rangie as road tyres but can't recommend them.

I like Maxxis tyres for offoad use, but I guess you're not planning to take the RRS up Mt Corree or in to the rougher parts of the Brindabellas just yet

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Maxxis are making road tyres now too. My son just put a set of low profile Maxxis' on his Fairmont and is very happy with them. I put a set on my "spare" car last week and can vouch that they are quite good.

Suggest you drop in to Goodyear "Discount Tyre Service" at Fyshwick, opposite Bunnings, and speak with Jason. They sell both Cooper and Maxxis tyres, plus all the usual suspects.

Haven't been up there in the Rangie since last year.

Took the Zook up there earlier in the year, and my bum and back hurt for a few days afterwards... mind you, the suspension is so stiff on the little Suzuki that driving down Canberra Ave is exciting for all the wrong reasons

Sounds like it might be a nice easy run for my Missus' Freelander now
