    Highway tyres

    I everyone

Now i have searched but can't find anything specific.

I'm wonder what reasonable and inexpensive high way tyre people would recommend....

I'm going to be moving soon which mean I will be embarking on an hours journey to work....I don't think its worth running the maxxis bighorns...they are to expensive to run out on the road. So as I have a second set of wheels thinking about fitting a highway tyre to them for the daily commuting.

looking at around the 245/70/16 mark

    any suggestions.....

    Smile road tyres

I used to commute on the M5 in the defender. Michelin xza 750-16 are through 70 000km and still heaps of tread left. Very quiet in comparison with the A/T that the machine was originally fitted with. Just adjust the tyre pressures to suite ride and driving style.

    Cheers.

Michilin latitude.I had them on my disco and they were really quiet and lots of wet weather grip.I fitted continentals to the L322 and they have no equal, very exxy though.I have an older set of XCL's you can have for free if you take them of the rims,I'm driving over to NSW next friday and they are at my Hunter Valley property if you want a look. Cooper ART, good milage warranty, no noticeable road noise, good for beach driving and dry off roading.

You can even get the 245 70 R16 in Light Truck which gives you more milage and thicker side walls, but a slightly harder ride.

Hi pat Ian used to have xcl's on the 90 absolutely loved them said you couldn't kill them with a big stick....do you know how they handle on road? they got much tread on them?.

I know they are not made anymore which only makes it harder for a spare which is my line of thinking thats all

the bfg AT does surprisingly nicely and is very credible off road

The general grabber is also excelent value on road and surprisingly capable offroad especially on sand.

Off road is irrelevant though...just interesting in a good highway terrain if you know of any...I have offroad tyres so not looking for something that can tick all boxes..just the road boxes

i got some TERA TRACKS in Hawker, all the locals run them, i am very happy at 172 each fitted, they are standing up well with not even a cut in them from flinders, morgan etc. more of a highway thing but with quite an open tread

Id suggest the HT version of the grabbers then if they're still available.
