Unidentified Ford Object:


My Sal has an A Model Ford. Whilst straightening out the tool box that came with it I found this:






and open:




The nut and bolt at the top don't look as though they belong as they are fitted loosely through a threaded hole.

Any ideas as to its use?

Yes, It looks like a rear wheel puller, usually the rear wheel is held on a taper with keyway. It clamps on when the hub cap is removed and the bolt in the centre winds down to seperate the wheel hub from the axel.
Usually they thread on where the hubcap threads but your one looks like a more universal one, great find, dont loose it.
I have a threaded one which only matches my 1924 Rugby.

Can we see some pics of the A, and what year is she ?

Thank you Rob...I've just had a look at the old girl and that makes sense...

We think she's 1929 but I'm just exploring Model A ford sites to get a bead on that.

She was a goer in 1977 and mothballed since.

Here she is loaded on the truck for the trip from Armidale to Sydney.

I was one digit out. I thought it was 1857311. I tried a number of alternatives but not the 2.

Mahn, Nice looking A model, they are a very good goer, reasonable on the highway and good in town, four wheel brakes make town driving safe.
Should not take much to get going after mothballing, good luck.
As you probibly know parts are soooo easy to get for the A, indeed all Ford parts.

OHHHH, bottom ends, pouring and boring, actually liked doing the job, unfortunately i mentioned it to the boss and he turned up with another doz blocks LOL that was back in The mid 80s
