    Headlight Lens Upgrade

    Has anyone fitted these?

HANSA 7 INCH 178mm HEADLIGHT INSERTS 4WD 4x4 BRAND NEW - eBay Other Lights, Indicators, Lights, Indicators, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 08-Oct-09 15:29:00 AEDST)

Thinking of getting them for my County. I have not checked if they are currently H4 or sealed (I would now but its raining light hell out there )

My current ones are so faded and crap candles would be better...

These inserts look similar to the ones I bought at Supercheap auto, just to check how they were, and they turned out quite good.

I upgraded the standard 2004 Defender H4's with relay wiring, and more powerful bulbs, but was still worried by the EU very sharp cut-off pattern on low beam. (all EU spec lenses are very similar in this regard). The light was good but past the cut-off I couldn't see at all!

I found the el-cheapo's had a little more graduation at the edges which made it easier to see, but have had NO problem with annoying other drivers. Be careful though, as some cheap brands have poor focus and far too much light bleed.

With any lens upgrade, you will get a lot of improvement by fitting relays to supply the light current, rather than the standard set-up where ALL the current has to go through the light switch on the steering column. (If you have not done this already )

    Cheers,

    Lionel
