    Question Swinging Jiggers

I've just noticed a couple of pivoting weights behind the rear bumper on my TDV6 D3 just alongside the exhaust pipes. Can anyone tell me

    1. What they are for
    2. Why do they need to pivot?

    Just curious... that's all....

they're harmonic balancers, to reduce vibrations through the chassis. If they get jamed (for example, from dried up mud -shock- -horror-), you'll notice a slight vibration through the body

    Cheers,

Thanks for your quick reply. I've just never seen them on either of my previous three Land Rovers.

    Thanks again.

Depending on your previous vehicles, there probably would have been balancers but in different places.
