    Changes to the D3

    Hi all

This is purely for interest sake, but in going through the threads here….. a marvellous way to pass the working day …… I have picked up that through the life of the D3 various changes have been made to the vehicle….. I am aware of the obvious ones, leather as standard on the SE in 06, new wheels etc….. but I gather that under the skin there have been some changes as well…….

So the question is, what changed and when? Also what models did it affect?

    Cheers

    B

I have an '07 SE and work with two guys who've recently updated their '05 models to '09. AFAIK there is no difference apart from small cosmetic changes and some small component and software updates which addressed weaknesses in the first model.

Most of the important changes were upgrades that were applied across all model years - air compressor, HP pump, ECU mapping, bushes etc.

The feature specs for each model varies with year though. EG 2008/9 SE got bi-xenon headlights, Hi-ICE audio, leather seats as standard, which were options in 2005/6. I think the 2009 S got 7 seats, rather than 5.

    Cheers,

There were changes to the dash and power train between 06 and 07. Other mods were completed as part of the model refresh, but I don't have a list. The two that I do know about...

The dash changes included feeding the clock from the radio onto the drivers information panel.

The engine mods were around EURO III(06-07) and EURO IV(07-09) I think.

Close! MY07 started being built in August 2006 and included Euro 4 engines, without DPF. This included the all new HPFP required by Euro 4 requirements and there is now a recall on these due to a dodgy front bearing. (Don't ask me how I know.. )

Apart from the dash change and engine, there was also the one-touch blinkers added.

I'm not up to date with changes in later years.

    Cheers,
    Rob

Bi-xenon headlights have always been standard on the Australian spec SE.

Now there's something I could use - are such inserts available aftermarket?

If not, can you give me an idea of what they look like so perhaps I can fabricate something similar?

    Thanks.
