    converting a quad to eletric

    i have an old ag bike the motor got dusted i only use it for fishing and hunting so im thinking about converting to eletric as it'll be quieter (easyer to sneek up on animals)
    anyone done this before as im new to the idea
    and its shaft driven

    I have not thought about it, but it should possibly be easier than a car (and certainly cheaper!) because the required range is a lot shorter, and the required speed and performance are not as high.

    it can be a fiddle but its not hard, i did it once. get your motors cheap from here

    look at the motor on the bottom right. I used to pay $1500 for that sort of power.

    so i now have a short list on what i want to do
    use a dc motor for simplicity and cheaper controlers
    batterys (still undesided)
    so im looking for a range of around 40km at speeds of around20/30kmh
    so im still resurching and all help would be apreciated
    also on the controler side is where im geting stuck i know a little about hobbpy car stuff but thats where it ends

    I dont know but would looking for a multi direction motor(simular to winch) combined with a variable foward /reverse controller be a good starting point
