Distillate is a light oil with additives like butane at differing levels for startability according to season, rust inhibitors, etc. So all you are doing is adding oil to oil. Can't hurt and may improve the lubricity of current distillates.

    Hi All
This is new to me what amount do you add to a tank full and what benifits do you get from it.

i use 300ml to 70 liters of diesel, also use only semi synthetic 2 stroke oil, helps injector pump and injectors last longer, slightly better MPG,cleaner burning, less black sort from exhaust.
This is not an old wife's tale.
Mercedes use 2 stroke oil mixed in with diesel on there test cars as the "Euro"diesel is not as "slippery"as the old diesel.
Manufactures are coating moving injectors/parts in a type of Teflon to try and get pumps etc to last through there warranty periods.
The 2 stroke semi synthetic oil completely blends with the diesel.
Hope this is of some help.

There are different types of oil with different levels of ash and other additives.
All oils are NOT the same.
So you cannot just pour any oil into your diesel.

Diesel engines are run on oils from distillate to the bottom grade sandy tar used in big marine engines. Lube oil is not that different from distillate and diesel engines will run quite handily on it. Consider this, you are only adding a miniscule amount of two stroke oil to your distillate and most unlikely to do any harm. Systems that clean sump oil and meter it into bulk fuel storage have been used by fleets for decades.

    Hi all,

I add 300ml 2 stroke per full tank of deisel in my 98 Disco 300tdi, there is no dought in my mind that it runs smoother and quieter.
I read about others doing it on another forum and thought why not. I'm convinced that it has increased my cars performance; however I have no way of quantifying this.
My tdi has 210k on the clock and its running the best its ever been.
mighten't suit others but it works for me

    Regards to all Jim

    Hi All
I am going to try it when I fill the tank next time i have now read a few threads on different forums and i have not seen anyone saying that it has damaged the engine. Mostly good reports so I will try it.

I'm one of the biggest critics of this type of thing mainly because I see and have to fix the end result of a lot of these practises.I would advise that only 2 stroke oil be used and only in small amounts, remember that most of these idea's are there to make savings, savings that are no where near covering the cost if things go wrong.
