I just done my defender temps,83 at the head,75 at thermostat and 60 and header tank.Mines just had it's yearly system service. Pat
Would the temperature in the header tank be lower than it would be in the top radiator hose or radiator, if so, what temperature difference do you think it would be, approximately.

in theory it should be the same as the tank (post my03 at anyrate) is a full flow thing taking a feed line from the top of the radiator back to the tank to aid with bleeding the system.
In reality while I cant hold my hand on the top of the radiator for long I can keep it on the bottom of the header tank for quite a while. by hand Id say....maybe 20 degrees different from radiator to header tank.
