    Fuse Display Diagram/Map 1985 V8 County

Well the next drama to unfold with is that the entire fuse box is undocumented. There is nothing in the manual, nothing in the drivers handbook and nothing on the inside of the fuse box cover.

There are 3 x 6 fuse slots, plus a 2 fuse holder plus 5 relays on the fuse "board" in front of the gear lever. All but 2 of the fuse slots are used.

Does anyone have a map of which fuse belongs to which circuit in a standard configuration?

I am a bit puzzled by the relays. The usual idea is to put the relay near whatever it is operating to minimise heavy cable routing, but there are 5 attached to the "board". There is a bunch more relays under the bonnet.

I need to get this all sorted before I hit the road otherwise one dark night there will be a great deal of excitement when one important circuit drops out!

    As always all help appreciated.

    Jim

The wiring diagram for the fuses should be on the cover inside, puzzling that its not. I can photograph one if no one has it already to post up.
The relays are pretty reliable, so I would'nt get concerned.

The diagram in the attached Powerpoint file is what I would like to build. Copies to interested parties at no charge once I get it done! If you have Powerpoint you will be able to tailor it to your LR.

    Dee Jay,
Thanks for your response. I know it's a pain but if you could send a picture it would really help me.

    Murray,
Many thanks. My layout is different but this will assist me in knowing what is likely to be on what fuse and what the amperage for the fuses might be.

I have a attached a (crook) photo of my fuse board. It is difficult to get a good shot with the gear lever in the way!

If anyone has the same fuse board I sure would like a pic of the layout.

    Regards

My '85 County diagram is almost identical to Rijidij"s "88 one - just a couple of fuses are higher in the '88, one due to the cigarette lighter.

Is your photo around the right way? I thought the seperate fuse holder is to the right.

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes it is around the right way. I now beginning to suspect it is a special build. The LR was originally optioned up for desert travel with an onboard water tank (and pump?), it has 2 fuel pumps, a hot water exchanger for showers (and pump), CB, extra power outlets front and rear, not to mentiion the winch.

So maybe they had to put in a new fuse box for all these add ons.

BTW most of the add ons dont work now.....

    Regards

I decided to try and figure what is live on the fuse panel with the battery on, what is live with Acc on, and the rest would be live with the Ignition on and then try and work out what circuit belongs to what fuse.

First challenge is the alarm. Does this sound right? The alarm appears to be set up so a light flashes on the steering column to indicate it is active once the battery is turned on. This must be cancelled within 10 secs and the car started to cancel the alarm activation. If not cancelled, the alarm is activated after approximately 2 minutes.

I have identified 6 circuits which are active as soon as the battery is on.

    Here are some questions?

    1. What does a shrieking alarm unit look like? I want to disconnect that to give me and the neighbours some peace.

    2. If I disconnect the alarm circuit (by removing the fuse), do you think that will kill everything, or will we drop back to normal function of the circuits?

    3. Does anyone have a similar alarm ? Mine has a little thick blue key with three contact strips. It fits into a rectangular hole mounted on the steering column. It has to be inserted and removed before the LR will start.

As usual, any info would be appreciated.
