    Current Defender

As some of you know I'm trying to replace our family tractor atm.
The new Defender 110 comes in at 54K on the road but the Rangie and D4 go for 75k up new so are out.

I'm a bit put off by Land Rovers warranty. 3yrs and 20,000 km Also the little 2.4 only produces 90kw and 360nm. It may battle towing over 2.5 tons in the hills here.

My other choice for new inevitably is a jap duel cab that's now built in Thailand Cars are no use to us here

Should I just wait for a nice D3 or L32 to come up soon?

I don't like either choice much for various reasons but the main one is warranty on the new. Problem with second hand is the investment allowance does not apply so will work out dearer than new in the long run

    What do you think?

I'll get flamed here,but........ Looking hard at the new MN Triton GLX-R with luxo pack atm.

    Where did that come from?
    It's 3yr/100000km.

Sounds like you need to borrow a demonstrator with a tow pack for the weekend.

Speaking of dealers Dubbo have just renewed another 3yr contract with Land Rover so happy about that. Only 158kms door to door.
This will make a big diference with my decision on Land Rover now.

To right. Or borrow a car trailer with a broken Toyota on it for the test run

We are off to Sydney tomorrow arvo for various reasons for a few days so will be having a good look at the Defender as well as other rivals wile down there. So long as my wife likes it to drive and the kids have enough room in the back will be a good start. Then the performance side when towing Not sure how I'm going to find out about that yet. The main one is a double fart cart with two large hay burners on. My 4BD1T does it quite well so can the postman van engine keep up in this part? I'd think it would leave the 4BD1T otherwise.
Just doesn't look good on paper to me. All in the gearing I hope.

I agree the numbers do not look flash on paper and concerned me as well. Having had my Puma now for 6 months with a few off road excursions thrown in including the High Country in VIC and the soft sand in Robe in SA..........the engine and gearing work a treat and never found myself looking for more power. In fact, many places I never even engaged low range, 1st high up some very soft high hills.

In your location, it makes perfect sense to look at a non-LR vehicle. Is the Triton a diesel?

You may need to check the towing capacity of the Triton. It's only 2.7t for the 4x4 dual cab diesel and 3t for the single cab.
