Those FLEABAY ones look like plastic to me they are definately not Ashcroft ones.
If they are from a UK manufacturer and I doubt it, they are only mild steel.
You can tell just by looking at them.

    This is the FLEABAY one.

cant remember what he sells them for, but the hi-tuff ones aint worth the money.
the last set i bought i had to open all the holes up by 1mm to get the bolts through and i've even got shot of their axles cos they're not much better.
go ashcroft and know you've got something that is worth the money!

Wouldn't that just be the difference between the flanges that suit classic rangies vs flanges that fit disco's - the discos have a larger diameter bolts. maybe you bought/were sold the wrong ones

The Ebay ones look like the earlier MD ones as they were narrower, they then changed to be longer ie more spline length and also scooped out between the bolts

I've just been through a lot of this as I've just about completed a rebuild

Must admit I was pretty happy with the HyTuff rear axles and flanges I fitted a few days ago.

These are the thicker Hytuff ones:

How do you work that out?

The bloke who used to work for Mal Storey making Maxi-Drive Axles is the same bloke that is Hi-Tough who now makes them for himself and they are made out of the same material, using the same brooches to cut the splines and heat treated in the same place.

Re the flanges: they are designed to be a press/tolerance fit onto the halfshafts and any movement you have in the flange bolts is movement on the halfshafts. Do you know that your flange bolts have not been replaced with non-genuine items? In which case you would have to blame the bolt manufacturer and not Hi-Tough.

    Diana

BTW: I'm not suggesting that Ashcroft gear isn't good, it is just that I don't understand how Hi-Tough could be different to Maxi-Drive. However I will disclose that I have good dealings with both Maxi-Drive and Hi-Tough.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
