    D3 Diff Problem SSM 34304

Took my 2007 D3 in for a service today and mentioned that I thought there was a noise developing when driving around 100k's. When I called to see if teh Service was finished I was told I had a diff problem that was covered by SSM 34304 and that the diff would need repairs.

Does anybody know about this and should both diffs be repaired?

Not sure about the numbers Wazza,

But there is an issue with pinion seals going in the diff, so that could be it. Causes a weep. Early diffs had a problem with paint causing the seals to deteriorate, but I beleive later models also had pinion seal problems (maybe from harmonic vibrations)

They used to just replace the entire unit, but now I believe a kit is available just to replace the seals.

    Warranty.

That's what the SSM is about.
Seals are now available for front & rear diffs.
