    96 disco elec seats

Working on my new project, 1996 Disco V8i ES

The power seats, well the switch's are broken and i need to adjust them manually, can it be done??

Looked on RAVE but it doesn't say or show how to do this.

    Thanks Luke

According to RAVE (RRC-wsm-electrical-repair-electric seat failure) you can play around with the cables and motors with the seat out of the vehicle.

Part of it mentions being able to turn the cable with a small screwdriver, although, as I haven't worked on electric seats I can't say I've tried it.

High probability that, like electric windows, that a connector is loose or dirty.

If it's just the switches, can't you replace them with some momentry on/off/momentry on ones?

Or pull the wires out and short stuff till the seats are in the right place

Does it have air bags in the seats, watch those wires

I've never run across a way to manually adjust the seats if they are electric, but I have seen this on another inferior forum about fixing the swiches, which might be your best option.

Thanks for the link but you need to be logged in to see the pics.
Anyhow i had a look at the drivers side control, i think someone has pulled it apart before, half the bits were missing, great.

So i very carefully took the passanger control apart, it was full of ball-bearings and little springs and copper/brass conectors, anyway i cleaned all the terminals and began the slow process of putting it all back ,
finally back together and plugged it in and bingo, passenger seat moves in every position,
was able to plug in the drivers side and got a couple of movements but not all, the plugs are mirror effect if that makes sense
Good enough for now, will have to chase a drivers side control and hopefully it will all work.

    Luke

P.S There are fuses & relays under the passenger front seat,
2 of the 4 fuses were blown

Now you have a working switch, you can also take that switch from the working seat and plug it into the loom for the other seat and at least adjust it to a suitable position.

Re-read your post, you already swapped them.
