Bonnett Hinge Rubbers

With the bonnett rubbers having a thin and thick section on top half , does the thin or thick section go to the rear.
My Isuzu bonnet is squeaking and vibrating so not sure if worn or back to front.
Currently thin section is to the rear.
Tried swapping them over but didn't seem possible to get bonnett in with them this way around

I assume you are talking about the nylon hinge bushes.

I don't think you can get the bonnet into the hinges with them the wrong way.

You should note that the anti-rattle function is provided by the rubber buffers on the firewall that the rear edge of the bonnet comes against. If these do not contact firmly, even with new rubbers, you could do what I did - glue 5mm of insertion rubber on top of them to increase the pressure.

JD i have an issue where the bush has work its way round so the slit is behind the hinge opening how do i get it to rotate i could hack at it with snips as i have some coming to me soon Andy

I've never had this happen, so I am just guessing. Two thoughts occur to me. Firstly, if you remove the bonnet by unbolting the hinges, it will make it a lot easier - may even be possible to slide hinge and bush out sideways. Secondly, my approach would be, with the bonnet closed, carefully cut away the exposed part of the bush with a sharp, narrow wood chisel.

The LHS hinge is the rattley one and the rubber buffer there seems a lot thinner than the RHS
What's insertion rubber.
I thought that related to a whole different activity

Insertion rubber is rubber sheet with fibre reinforcing, available in a variety of thicknesses. It is designed for providing shock or vibration absorption as packing between bit or under bits of machinery etc. You get it from Clark Rubber, and they may have suitable buffers that could be glued on, or you may need to replace the buffers (my Clark Rubber does not have the right size! See your dealer)

If you are not aware of the method, you should be able to just lift your bonnet off - close the vents, then disconnect the strut if it is a jointed one, and lift the bonnet to vertical. Then lift straight up from both sides - helps if there are two of you.

Mine was rattleing on the top of the guard near the fire wall, a small tap on the screw with a punch there fixed it up. I saw someone elses county he had put door seals on the bonnet; said it cut a lot of noise down.
If you stand on the moter you can get the bonnet off by yourself.....but then there is no-one to hand it to!

Are they just siliconed /glued on?

I might slip down to Bunnings and see if they have a suitable item

If you are talking about the original buffers, they fit in holes. The extra I glued on top of the existing ones with contact cement.
