    Alarm

    Hi Guys

Just looked on my nanocom while it was plugged into our new 2002 defender 110 extreme and it reads all the settings from the alarm.

The question i have is that although it has cental locking there is no alarm light no remote key fob etc.. what do i need to do to get this activated? im assuming as the nanocom reads the alarm module its all there but not connected in some form? someone has added and aftermarket immobiliser too..

    Any one done a conversion?

    Thanks

    Steve

hmmm ... no replies? oh well

well mine is a 315mhz one.. and that is something that isnt sold in the uk where they are avaliable 10 a penny... so im having to have a search around for a second hander.

Karcraft quoted a good price new... truimph rover spares were $7 cheaper for a used one!

anyone know anywhere cheapish where i can get one or 2?

or a way of finding out if the uk ones were 315mhz too

part number is ywx101230 just in case you need to know... and if im not mistaken the lucas 3txb was available in 315mhz...

    thanks

Hi Steve do you have the key fob to activate central locking? My dad's D2A did not have the alarm activated although central locking worked. That's the way it was bought. I activated it using the Nanocom. You'll need to do it using a computer plugged into Nanocom that is then plugged into the car. Not sure exactly how I did it now but I think under the general car settings. Will have a look and post it up later if I can

My 99MYExtreme has an alarm module mounted in behind the instrument cluster. It is an original fitting but nothing came with the Defender to operate it. I made some enquiries about four years back but came to the conclusion the cost of a remote activater (if that was all that was required) was not justifiable.

Had not heard of central locking. Did that come on the 99MY Defender or was it a later addition?

I see the Nanocom software has a whole section on the Defender alarm. The setting I was talking about for the D2 is the Valeo BCU section under Alarm where there is an option as to whether it is fitted/not fitted and another where it is enabled/not enabled. See if that changes things

    Hi Panya

yep i have the nanocom but no fob.. as they werent supplied over here. I used the nanocom to determine that a fob can be programmed to the alarm... i can also operate all alarm ecu (10as) controls from the nanocom. i just need a 2 button 315mhz fob... most in the UK are 433 and are freely available for peanuts!

i too have reprogrammed fobs on our disco II so know what im doing there...

    howard...

mine is a 2002 extreme.. not sure when they came in but chances are that the alarm module (green thing behind the instrument pack) is there... if it is im sure most things should work?

Will find out more if i can get this fob!

    Thanks

    Steve

I'm not sure but the D1 alarm may have been 315MHz. It also uses the Lucas10AS. So might pay to check on that fob as well.

I believe you are right, this is taken from RAVE for Discovery 1:

    Radio frequency system
The RF system uses four frequencies according to
market. If the coaxial aerial is not fitted system
performance will be impaired. Both ECU and handset
    have a colour coded label.

    Frequency Colour Territory ECU/Handset
    433.92 MHz Blue/black UK, Ireland
    224.5 MHz, Yellow/yellow France
    433.92 MHz Blue/Purple Germany
433.92 MHz Blue/blue Europe Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Germany
    433.92 MHz White/Blue Switzerland, Denmark
315.0 MHz Green/green Rest of world, Italy, Australia
    315.0 MHz Orange/Green Gulf, Japan

This is a few pages on, but essentially says the same thing even though some of the colours are different:

    Radio frequency system
The RF system uses frequencies according to market
and both ECU and handset are colour coded:

    Territory ECU/Handset ............................... Frequency ..................
    Europe Blue/Blue ...................................….. 433.92 MHz .........................
    NAS Green/Green ....................................... 315.00 MHz ....................
    Japan Green/Green .................................... 315.00 MHz ....................
    Gulf Green/Green ....................................... 315.00 MHz ....................
    Rest of World Green/Brown ........................ 315.00 MHz ...................

NOTE: In service NAS, Japan and Gulf will
have the handset changed to brown.

thanks guys... where are these colours found?

from what i can tell so far i need to look at the resonator on the board.. one type is 433mhz the other is 315... and as a result i have a contact i used to buy parts from for my rover when i was a uk resident who breaks rovers and mg's he said a lot of MGF's were reimported back from japan and had 315mhz fobs.. strangley he doesnt keep a note of which one is which... so the only way is to go through them and crack them open! so will send rachaels dad down there and get him to have a look.... at the price they charge... i'll get several!

    Thanks

    Steve
