The old fence wire on the tailshaft trick!

    Gday all

Thought i would share lastnights adventure with you all. will keep it short. decided to take the old girl out for a bush run lastnight to a spot not far from home.. having lined up my favourite long rough hill ive dropped the clutch and we are off. by the time ive hit the bottom the old girl is flying, half way up with all the tools etc banging around in the back im thinking im going to make it then the next thing i know is my face is just about touching the windscreen, there is a almighty bang and then silence.im thinking to myself "this cant be good". i have somehow managed to pick up a mesh fence that is still attached half way up the hill. as ive gone past the main pole the wire has gone tight and reefed me to a rather sudden stop. so 2 hours of cutting wire around the bloody pinion so i could get to the bolts and dropping the shaft we were off. went back this morn to cut the fence to retrieve my tailshaft. another job to add to the list. will try and attach a pic, and yes there is a tailshaft in all that wire.

    Cheers gaz

The drive shaft yoke on the parking brake drum is the same as other rovers ie ....series three....so it shouldnt be a problem to sort out.

I was just about to ask if he'd fixed the fence! Seeing that it's a chain wire fence it's probably not a stock fence so no animals to round up at least.

    fence repair

Just so those people worried about the fence being repaired can sleep tonight i thought i would let them know that it was part of a old sand quarry that is having houses built on it as we speak so maybe i should send them a bill for rubbish removal

    Cheers gaz

    Thanks Gaz.

You have no idea how many times people lose control of their cars break through the fences on our farm then drive off. The stock always seem to know that the fence is down and as we all know the grass is always greener on the other side.

On at least one occasion the first we knew was when the animal control ranger came in to fine us for allowing our stock onto the road.
