D2 air bags will not inflate

Hey guys, Wondering if anyone can offer some advise. Just brought a 2000 disco nice car to drive but the airbags will not inflate, before i rush off and do a coil conversion on it wondering if there was any little trick or tips i can try. I suspect it is the compressor as both bags were holding enough air to keep it about 1 inch off the bump stops. A i cracked all 3 lines from the compressor to see if there was any flow from the compressor both bags sank slowly to the bump stops. The compressor will start pumping up on starting the motor for 15 seconds then turn off, the feed line (4mm) to the valve bank does have air coming out which i can stop with just my thumb over it. Is the compressor item serviceable ?

    Thanks in advance guys.

Check the O rings and ensure the fittings are tight around the main inlet line to the valve block.(do not force them)
Spray some soapy water about the fittings and bags. PM if you find you need to replace the compressor.

    Cheers.

This morning i went thru and check for leaks all the lines have a good seal including into the top of the air bags, i cracked the lines at the valve bank to see if there was any pressure in the line which there was on both sides. The pump still comes on for about 15-20 seconds then cuts out also the airbag light on the dash is on (inflate for extra height light). Is there a way to check the air bags themselves before i replace the compressor ?

    you COULD,(search The Good Oil)
cut both bag air lines, install a push-on schrader fitting and use servo air to inflate the bags,,
IIRC the pressure limit is 100psi?

you need around 60-70 to get to road height, more will expose the normally rolled section and that is where they usually leak.

do this and run around for a day or two.

doing it that way would at least show the bags are fine got prices this morning $419 for a coil kit for it , hard choices to be made i think.

    not really,,
your SLS system is over ten years old,
most compressors die from either overwork or water ingestion, and unlike the urban legend most bags just perish from old age/usage.

not much lasts ten years these days, certainly not the coils you'll be putting on.

The length of time the compressor runs is determined by the height sensors, so when it reaches the "stored height" it switches of, maybe its those stopping it to early and filling the bags up enough.

Thanks guys for all the advice it turned out it was the compressor which was faulty. I spoke to Glen at rover land about options and price we decide to put coils in, $385 for the britpart kit and 2 hours of my time all done. Coils are for standard height 385 lbs ride is pretty good not that i really had a lot to compared too beside my old RR and the series 1 disco.

Thanks all again guys i appreciate all the advice given
