Advice pls re 1985 V8 County Fuel system

I am wondering what all this is about. I have a "T" pipe on the back of the block. It is open at one end, the opposite end (I think) vents the sump, and the top of the T heads of to a container with C P T on top. (See pics).

I dont know what all this is or whether there should be yet another tube attached to the open pipe on the T

What is in the black container? My manual has'nt got it.

BTW the pipe going back to the tank has a small T in it which just vents to the air!

I think you are talking about the emission control system, this is to prevent fuel vapour escaping in to the atmosphere due to fuel expanding in the tank and lines when it gets hot. probably should be a hose onto the t piece but not sure which one.

It won't be in the workshop manual as its for ADR (Australia) only.
Not sure if not having it will fail a RWC, the guy I use wouldn't pick it up.

Thanks for your replies. I am a wiser man!

I have to go for a RWC (Blue Slip), and the hose going back to the tank has been deliberately cut and vents straight to the air under the driver's door). I think I will have to rejoin it.

The engine sounds good on start up...no smoke and it crackles into life very smartly, but acceleration is terrible. I thought it may be timing (yet to check), but could the carbs be sucking air from this emission system?

    Regards, Jim
