    D4 brake squeal when reversing

My D4 has had a nasty brake squeal when reversing, right from delivery day. I've now done well over 6000 k's and it hasn't shown any sign of fading away (sorry, bad pun that). I know that I'm not alone here - there's been a thread on the UK forum about this: DISCO4.COM • View topic - Brake Squeak

And I know from reading that thread that others here in Oz have the same issue. It also appears that it might be a "known fault" as far as LR are concerned - but things have gone very quiet on this one, and my dealers tech-honcho says that LRA at this point appears to have nothing on this. So I thought I'd see who else has the same issue, and see if weight of numbers shakes their tree at all.

I have a sloping driveway, and it's downhill from shed to road - and I reverse down, so plenty of gentle braking, bringing plenty of not-so-gentle squeal/squeak. No such issue going forward, and whether brakes are cold or warm makes no difference. Interested to know how many others have this issue, and if anyone has heard anything about fixes (other than what is on the UK thread)?

I haven't had my window down whilst reversing for a while so don't know if its still squealing after having done about 4K. I'll check when I next remember.

Hmmm. This is what I'd expected to happen to mine - disappear after some reasonable number of k's. Oh, well - at least I can't actually hear it - too deaf for that! It's only my daughter's grumbling that keeps me aware of it.

Re the ARB bar: yes, I've ordered a winch bar, but may well not fit a winch immediately, as I'm unlikely to do much serious travel for a year or two and don't feel like lugging the extra weight out there in the mean time. Not sure at this stage how ARB will deal with the various front mounted techno bits - there's the headlight washers, too. Last I heard they were going through the compliance process (airbags etc) and the first bars were likely to be shipped mid to late Feb.

The winch bar for the D3 accommodates these so I reckon this won't be an issue on the D4. There is an issue (on the D3 where fitted) with the parking sensors. Hopefully they will be able to sort this for the D4.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind if I had to trade these gizmos for some decent front-end protection. I've got eyes that still work (unlike the ears) so parking is not the problem that leaping roos at sunset can be round here!

And the roos do so much more damage than a stationary X5 in a parking lot...... now the rear parking sensors.... that is a different story, worth their weight in gold when parallel parking these darn vehicles, and also when reversing with kids around.........
