1952 80 inch front axle bearings

All,
I am doing up the front axle of my 1952 80 inch and the bearings taken out (Axle bearings) are LS12 1/2 and the bearing I have been supplied are R244150 which are roller bearing and not ball bearings.
These new bearings look as if they come from the later models and would be much easier to fit BUT I don't know if they can be used with the 1952 axles as these do not have the later universal joints.
I assume the LS12 1/2 hold the axle in place which is not the case with the R244150 bearings.

Is there another part number for the LS12 1/2 bearings?
