Was there in the mid eighties and it was something that was hard to take in then too. Pictures here do not really show the scale of the place when you are on the ground on site. Now if only I had had a camera.

Its a sad place. All those great planes just...... not flying.

I believe QAM has an F-4 Phantom in there somewhere so if anyone wants ot pay the shipping charges so it can be brought to Australia do let me know.

    That's amazing.

    Even better detail on bingmaps.

only because the battles being fought now arent on a level they can cope with without upsetting the politicians and the bleating hearts.....

I figure a dozen B52's would have a interesting effect on things in Afghanistan and Iraq.....

Afghani: "you just wiped an entire village off the map"
Military commander: "the general population allow the bad guys to plant roadside bombs, support them with food, etc"
Afghani: "but we're scared of them"
Military commander: "heres the deal, the general population either stops this **** happening, or we'll turn your country into a freshly ploughed field"

can you just imagine how many bleating hearts would turn up to protest that? lol

no ******* wonder we've got problems......
