hi folks,
just wondered if anyone might have any decent photos of the opening windscreens that were fitted to sadf forward controls (and maybe others ?)
unfortunatly "ruth's" has been robbed at some point in the past and i suspect the only way to replace it will be to make one myself
Hi Jim,
You are in luck...... I have recently (Like a month ago) got hold of ex SADF FC 2A and a FC 2B.
The 2A has got the folding windscreens and circular hatch in the cab......pretty rusted though.I will take some pics, and post them for you.
it looks like they are fitted to a sightly modified standard windscreen frame ? ( i can see air/light on the 2 inboard "corners" but both outboard corners seem to "filled" in )
would i be right in thinking the "hinge" is prob just a bit of round bar sitting in that top channel/drip strip ?
that would great
but don't want you to risk breaking/busting any sealing you might still have to stop the rain coming in...............opps sorry forgot you lot are basking in sunshine
intresting to see yet another ex-SADF that has been "white washed" so far i haven't found any ref to this "habit" any ideas yourself ?
Those screens on the SIIa seem to be different to the opening screens I've seen on ex-SADF SIIb. Yes my screen has been robbed too (also the Salisbury front axle). The photos I have seen have key-rubber mounted panes in a single opening frame with three individual hinges, one each at the top corners and one in the centre.
These are images I kept from an ebay ad in the UK several years ago.
BTW: Have never seen the opening screens on anything other than a SADF F/C.
I also think that some body styles may not have had the opening screens, I have seen two other SADF SIIb with the same body style as mine and both now have the regular non opening screens. I do however know my SIIb had it's screen changed in Melbourne after arrival but have not had it confirmed what type of screen was fitted before the change.
thanks for posting the extra photos
some nice clear ones in there
i can see what you mean about the differant types of opening's
the last photo is the same as ruth's body-curved front corners and the lower type of "luton" over the cab-
cheers jim
