Would like to know more about this one - Good idea - and I know more than one 101 owner that has or wants to covert theirs to a dual cab.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

About30 odd years ago I was offered a Land Rover Forward Control Duel Cab by a company who did maching for my business foe $200. It had all the mechanicals removed except the axles so still could be moved around. The engine had been machined & it came with all the new parts to rebuild the Engine ,Gearbox & brakes. The vehicles original owners was a oil exploration co & it had a tray back with high gates. I was restoring my 80" at the time & had no were to store it , also not knowing much about FC's I knocked them back. " o " if I only knew then what I know now.
Not sure what happened to it but it was gone the next time I went to there business which was about 1 month later.

From what I remember the FC I was offered looked like this one.1976_land_rover_forward_control_4x4_double_cab_4740093482265205161.jpg It could have been a special built vehicle for the Oil Co.

Dear me. That story ..and No Mistake. Even reading it I could feel my legs moving to jump on that. I love cab overs...but the ultra low ratio 2B units available to me over the years have been too problematic to manage.
The 101 however doesn't have that 'issue' (I say that carefully. Low ratio diffs are the best for squeezing virtually everything out of the engine no matter how modest the horsepower or piston diameter).
But we all live in the real world where fuel is $1.50 plus per litre and mongrels profit from necessity.
So for me, economic and powerful engine conversions ..manageable bar common rail.
Engine and gearbox conversion: Manageable within certain parameters.
Engine gearbox transfer and diff ratio conversions...
Yeah nup, I'll have to find another vehicle solution...because...I don't hate myself exactly that much.
