I'll give it a nice place to stay if it ever wants a Queensland holiday:)

I noticed this vehicle on ebay earlier and came on here to try and find it. I think it looks superb and I'm sure it's a great camper.
It's at times like this I really regret going overbudget and spending all my cash on a housebuild :)
I hope you find a good home for it
lots more pics (I hope!) on

it's on ebay at the moment http://www.aulro.com/afvb/fcs-milita...tml#post827107... quite a lot of enquiries from all sorts of people! fingers crossed it goes to a member (or maybe they'll join up!)
I just looked at the photos on photobucket and they show a coil spring front end. Pretty bizarre stuff. What is the on road performance like?

Perhaps tardis will answer that one for us.
It looks to me like part or all of a Range Rover front end.
I had heard that it has disc brakes up front so that would make sense.
The ride would have to be better than the non-parabolic front end that it had originally.
Hi guys,
well went for rego today in the camper. Usual grumpy old man syndrome at the registry.....ACT has a reputation for that!
Went through all the steps, lights, steering, brakes etc all good and tick. Then go to inspect the camper section (didn't know this was necessary) have not finished putting mattresses, tables etc back in as yet so FAIL. apparently I may remove the camper items once registered and use as a commercial van (more expensive rego) I showed him the door at 500mm wide and asked how he thinks I would go getting goods in to which he did not respond.
Garry - I ended up getting the engineers certificate that was done in VIC in 1999 when the isuzu went in. They recognised it which was lucky I thought. Apparently from the comments I have been getting by people, Ray Spence at Canberra Motor Works is the best engineer to use for rego in ACT. It seems if it has his letterhead on it then they don't look twice. It may be worthwhile getting him to look over your 101 before the inspection.
Anyway, will keep you posted and post some photos once the camper mods are finished and the ACT label is in the window!
PS bighorns get fitted tomorrow
Was`interested in how the rego was going.
Was there any particular reason why you went to Dickson to get the roadworthy and not to a garage rego inspector like Ray at CMW. I appreciate that as your truck came from interstate it would still need to go to Dickson for the identity check but I don't believe the actual roadworthy has to be done there. I was hoping to get my roadworthy at the LPG garage as the gas system will have to be signed off an then to Dickson for the identity check and so bypass the grumps - the ident check guy is a bit slow as he couldn't find all the numbers in the secret spots on my Freelander. He would have had fun with your truck.
I feel your pain about the camper bit - when I took my jag in to get passed it was missing some trim off the door and I did not have the soft-top fitted - fail.
You need to to a quick and dirty fitout in the back so u will have the use of the FC and then do what you want.
Cheers
Garry
I'll vouch for Ray at CMW as the only engineer in the Canberra region that I would let work on my Land Rover after poor experience from "that dealer" in Phillip. ;)
Unfortunately, Ray's credibility and subject knowledge wasn't enough to convince the NRMA assessor that my old P38A shouldn't be written off a couple of months ago. I'll let Ray have a play with my "new" P38A pretty soon.
Cheers, Paul.
