The vehicle is 1949 chassis no L8664376 and dispatched to Development Engineer Arthur Goddard on 11th April 1949. The photo is taken outside Block 1 at Solihull on the west side of the canteen. This vehicle is one in Arthur's engineering fleet and was used for testing the wide front springs layout. They had a huge number of vehicles at this point, testing new ideas that were ultimately for the 86 and 107. A few ideas made it to the 80" like the wide front springs. Yes pre pro hard top is very early too.

what is on the roof's of those ones? roof top tent sort of things for snipers/bird watchers/ hunters to hide in? they look cool!
