Hi Scallops, I was conned into the same thing when I purchased my Ford Territory after just landing in oz
Personally I'd think $2,100.00 would buy a few track event passes and be a whole lot more fun with such a :cool car
Folks - this is a bit off topic, but I bought Kat a John Cooper Special from Coastline BMW earlier this week, and we collect it soon.
Well, I just received the dreaded call from the dealer's "Ming Mole", trying to sell me fries with that.....a $2100.00 paint and interior protection "package"....I almost laughed, but politely said no thanks, but am wondering if this is something that would be beneficial, and if so, if it's available from quality detailers etc.

Anyone ever gone through with the Ming Mole's charming spiel? If so - do you think the actual application is a good thing?

the paint treatment is the teflon stuff they put on planes to make them slippery and is way cheaper if you do it yourself.
on a dark blue car i would consider it.
you wont see anything different till it gets to 10+ years old but it does work if you follow the guidelines.
the precleaner alone beats most polishes i have come across.
i used it on a maroon commodore my daughter had... made a stunning difference and it stayed like it for 2 years +
the fabric protection is a con imho
my mate around the road does sheep skins and car seat covers wholesale.. a good set of sheep skins and i mean "good" not "supercheap good" would set you back $500 and last the life of the car..
he does fabric ones as well as per the ones in my caddy. for about $200 and they show no wear after 3 years.

we ran a cooper s for 3 years and was offered wheel insurance for the beast. After 3 years it was time to move it on and was quoted from the steeler $150 to tidy up the wheels. That was cheaper than the insurance they offered in the first place.. figure that one out .... fun car to drive tho..
My wife had the paint & trim done on the Lemon what a wast of money . Paint still gets scratches on it & trim still has to be treated every 1/2 year.
