    Allora Heritage Weekend

What a cracker - you blokes and gals who missed this one - 3 words....Had a Shocker.

Kat and I hooked up with an old mate from the Heritage Truck Association......Big Cam...and yeah, they were playing both types of music....

The Southern Downs - at its finest......The Lanz Bulldog tractor-tandem, just murdered it.....

You know, this club is running some cracker trips......this is what I saw.....

Hoot McCloot's '27 Chevy.....spent a quality hour or so drinking XXXX off the wood - straight from the taps, stategically placed on the rear of this slick ol' girl.....had to fight for a bar stool since Bradshaw was there......

C'mon....Mad if ya not an Austin fan.....

The McCloot family were well represented....I got to know them pretty well.....see last photo in this trip post!!!!!!!!!!

Even Sepo tractors....not as good as a MF, not as tough, not as used........but cute nonetheless, we'll give 'em that....

Something for the stationary steam freaks.....along with 50,000 other examples....

Kat in the Zen pose - totally pumped over the tractor pull....Narelle was so excited she went off to get another carton....

Check out the crowds! The outer was full.....and why not?

Yep - there ain't nothin like a country crowd.....a little bit crazy, a little bit loud.....nuts to miss this one.....

another great trip with some great company...

was great to meet jarrod and his studebaker again after all these years...

the journey up was very picturesque. heifer creek rd and the cafe at ma ma creek was worth the visit with an excellent cuppa and a very tasty pie filling the hole left by the worms...

the ma ma creek cutting was something to behold... nearly 90ft high and cut by hand they tell me...

the allora swap meet was an outstanding success it appears. i used to go to the historic truck and machinery shows at cleveland each year and this one was bigger and better than that ever was so i was enthralled.

love the tractor pull and the lanz tractors in particular... 10.7 litre single cylinder 2 stroke diesel wonders...

some truly remarkable restored vehicles were on show as well as some vehicles that just oozed patina in bucket loads

clocked up over 600 miles by the time we made it home as we took the scenic route via toowoomba, hampton, perseverance, esk, toogoolawah, gregors creek, kilcoy, neurum and woodford before ending the sojourn in downtown godwin beach.

sorry no pics, i was busy taking it in myself...

thanks to anyone who had a hand in organising the trip...

    i thoroughly enjoyed it!

The (show) event was my introduction to the "truck & tractor" scene, so was quite an eye opener for me. A very pleasant couple of days with good company.

The cross section of vehicles was amazing and I managed to snap a couple of pics starting with sunrise over the Landy camp. Looking forward to the next one

A few more pics Mater's big brother, a nice old Ford towing a period van, a lovely Commer Knocker, Falcon Cobra (one of the good ones) and the last one of a minor obstacle on the trip home.

I believe both cuttings on Heifer Creek road were cut by convict hands. Pretty amazing, really.

I believe the Heifer Creek cutting was the first contract for Thiess Bros, the family responsible for bringing the Land Cruiser to Australia's shores. I am pretty sure they used bulldozers.

    Cheers, Mick.

Well there you go.....a bloke I used to do the Cunningham Classic with always used to go on about the convict cuttings as we cruised along in the peloton.....turns out his racing was as bad as his history knowledge!
