Overall a very rewarding weekend with more than the usual high and lows from a personal perspective.
my wife and i would like to take this opportunity to (once again!) thank everybody for their input on the weekend.. we can not thank you enough.
The weekend started out well with madge and myself arriving in good time on thursday evening and getting ready for the tasks at hand the next morning.
friday was spent preparing for the big bonfire... and then looking for the fire warden or their phone number.
alas despite several hours of searching they could not be found and when a south easter blew up @ about 20 knots i gave the idea away completely and made sure the usual fire pit was stocked with enough timber to make it thru the weekends festivities.
friday afternoon and evening saw the usual suspects arrive and setup for what i expected to be a relaxing weekend away from the burbs.
saturday came and went with an unexpected working bee adding more convenience to the amenities block, which got a BIG tick of approval by all who used the shower that night.
the saturday night meal was a treat to behold... several roasts and a couple of pots of vegetables all cooked to near perfection in camp ovens surrounding the main fire.... very very nice and well worth the efforts of those involved in this epic!
sunday, well what can i say, i don't remember much of it to be frank as i came down with what appears to be a dose of food poisoning after eating a dodgy can of all day breakfast on thursday night.
by all accounts sunday nights pork roast dinner and fire were something special, sadly i slept thru the lot of it
monday saw me back on my feet and back into the spirit of the event...
madge and i left wattlemere at about 16:00 and arrived back home at about 19:30. an extra half hour for the trip home @ 85kph i thought was well worth the adventure of taking madge out on the run.
boy do sheep skin seat covers make a big difference to an old girl....
once again many thanks to you all for making the weekend as much fun as it was....
sorry i have only 1 pic

Hello Incisor,
What you were audacious enough to try and enter the now secret world of trying to contact a local fire warden - the sheer cheek! Try getting the phone number - non urgent for a local fire station! I went through this exercise only recently for the Bundaberg Fire Station!
Once upon a time the local fire stations and Fire Wardens were listed in the telephone book. You know they were really easy to find!
Now everything non-urgent goes through a central phone number for the whole of the Queensland Government of 13 74 68. Ask for the contact details for the local fire station or Fire warden. The listing of phone numbers for the Queensland government - non-urgent does not even list Queensland Fire and Emergency Services in their Telstra White Pages Directory White Pages® - Queensland Government
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services supposedly has a Fire Warden finder on their website - Buggered if I could get it to work!
https://ruralfire.qld.gov.au/Using_F...s/Fire_Wardens
The local directory for Proston has the following details for the Coverty Rural Fire Brigade 98 Coverty Rd, PROSTON QLD 4613 (07) 4168 9466. I am not sure how current it is.
Kind Regards
Lionel
the rural fire brigade is 500mtr down the road
i have no phone coverage there so usually drop in and see them but the old warden doesn't appear to be the current one as the sign on his fence was gone...
i couldn't book it till i mowed so it was a catch 22 situation..
such is life...
