Well, what a lovely day to head out for a drive in my beautiful car, with my beautiful wife! The morning fog lifted just before we arrived in the picturesque environs of Mulgowie. S3 Ute was already there lurking, and he spotted my English Jeep right away.....
The Markets were really worth going to, and I'd say there was something for everyone on display.....
Kat and I bought a host of local produce - from Brocolli and Avocados, through to Olives and Persian Fetta - but made just a few miles up the road....this is truly God's Country, with fertile black soils and majestic views of the Main Range, all nestled in a sun soaked valley....
S3 Ute had some experience of the area, so we took the drive to the end of the road to revisit a past lost opportunity but also to take in the views....
And by now, lunch beckoned so our intrepid trio ventured back down the track in search of the Mulgowie Pub....
We found it!
Well, I had just the perfect day made all the better by good food, friendly people and good company.

Yes, I'll be running this trip quite a few more times I suspect - the markets are fantastic value but it's also just so pretty. A perfect Series day out.

Hello from Brisbane.
Although Land Rover-less (again) on this particular occasion, it was a very pleasant day out foraging in the country side with Dan and Kate who were appropriately equipped. Mrs S3ute's Golf sports made up for some of the setback, and the option was always there to wind down the windows, open the sunroof, turn the heater full on and throw an oily rag on the manifolds to get the authentic Series vibe....
Anyway, when the Good Lord was fetching around for somewhere to design a pleasant winter morning he must have had the upper Laidley valley in mind.
Mulgowie farmers' market is relatively small, by city market standards, but the produce is locally sourced and doesn't come much better.
Have the S3-in-laws up from down south for the week - so last nights bbq lamb and salad was all via the Mulgowie bash and no-one was complaining.
As Dan mentioned - I have a bit of a soft spot for the place, having nearly settled there a few years ago, but didn't for various reasons. Nevertheless, the odd foray there with a beer and burger at the Mulga to top it off is always a welcome reconnection.
They hold the markets each month - so watch this space for a future trip opportunity.
Cheers,
Neil
