Could you use large SS Jubilee hose clamps?
Hello from Sherwood.
Been pondering and doing things related to the brake lines on my truck. The ratio of doing to pondering has generally favoured the latter, but some progress is being made. Not helped by the parts manual suggesting a slightly different pipe layout to that on the few trucks that I’ve crawled under lately.
Case in point being at the All British Day yesterday whereby the Game that I was probing to see how it’s front pipes were routed had quite a marked divergence from the relevant parts diagram (88” servo assisted dual pipe arrangement).
Anyway, in my enthusiasm to get that a little clearer in my head I forgot to crawl under the back to address another question re the rear lines. The manual shows the lines being secured to the axle tubes with steel bands. However, I don’t recall anything like that when I pulled the old ones off a few years ago.
Today’s question. How are the lines secured? Not thinking of the pipe holders bolted to the bracket above the rear spring plates.
Cheers,
Neil

My 2A being an Oz assembled vehicle used a "sort of Jubilee Clip". ie. it is a loosely rolled strip of metal with a twisting mechanism where the ends meet. Quite a simple & inexpensive idea really.
Without looking at mine to make sure what set up was used, I reckon these, Stahl 250 x 4.6mm Stainless Steel Cable Tie - 10 Pack | Bunnings Warehouse would do the job.

Mick.

That is similar to my ones Mick except the locking clip is like a Large split pin that acts as a winder upper.
The SS ones look the business though.
Mine had the metal band but attached to a round fitting with a rubber insert that the brake pipe went through to keep the brake pipe away from the axle housing so no metal to metal contact causing rubbing wear on the brake pipe.
When replacing these I just used the metal clamps like those listed above or even cable ties but cut off a small lengths of rubber fuel pipe pipe and slide them over the brake pipe and clamped them on the rubber so the brake pipe did not have metal to metal contact.
