    Door rubber seals

    Hello from Sherwood.

My Series 3 parts catalogue doesn’t show the ute cab or hard top.

I’m looking for the serial number for the vertical RHS and LHS upper door seals - that is the rubber sealing strips that fit to the ute cab rear or wagon side panels under the rear ends of the door tops.

Presumably they are the same for 2A vehicles.

Can anyone help with those numbers?

    Cheers,

    Neil

    Hello again from Sherwood.

Digging through an old Series 2 parts catalogue (microfiche) there is a part shown as 303535 which appears to be the upper door top seal as fitted on a truck cab.

When you load that number into Craddock's catalogue or LRdirect etc it is replaced by a later part number 395674. However, the description is a bit vague as to what it is - top seal , rear door seal etc.

But I think it is the right number for the job.

    Anyone able to confirm that?

    Cheers,

    Neil

My parts books show it as 395674, both 2a and 3. (Mine came by the metre from Clark Rubber!)

    John,

Hello and thanks for confirming that number.

I tracked down a set at one of the remaining parts suppliers in Brisbane at $29 a piece - Craddocks were about GBP7 which is fairly typical of the ratio.

I’ll mosey past Clark Rubber to see what they have. Might look a bit strange carrying the ute cab rear panel under my arm as the originals are still fitted to it. The main problem is that they are breaking away at the bottom ends - most of the sealing faces are fine.

What rivets did you use to secure them? The originals on the truck have a flat head.

    Cheers,

    Neil

    Neil,
There was a rubber guy at All British Day who sold rubber ( Brisbane based) I think it is the guy who bought the Rubber Man Business they are based in Brendale,I can't remember the his name, some one else who was there may remember. He sold Peter Jacksons Rubber & had a large stock. I have bought off the Rubber Man & also the mob at Brendale over the years & always found there product good.

    Wayne,

Hello again and thanks for that information. I will check it out.

As I mentioned before, I can get the “real” part from one of the few remaining specialist outfits in Brisbane, but it would be almost certainly Britpart and expensive.

    Let’s see what turns up.

    Cheers,

    Neil

    Hi Neil,
The mob at ABD was the people from Brendale , go under the name3 of The Rubber Shop 2/28 Moonbi St
Brendale (07) 32051914 I would give them a call before you go there to make sure they are poen the day you want to go. The last time I used them they were not open every day but that was a few years back & they were just starting up then. I think I bought my window channels for my door tops from them.

    Wayne,

    Hello and thanks again.

I just phoned them and they no longer have the shop - all online now.

They are out of stock of what they think is the correct profile but are getting in new stock. May be here in a week or so.

Worth waiting for as the price is around $16 per metre cf. $60 for two Britpart “originals”.

    Cheers,

    Neil

I used pop rivets - the army had done that before I had it on some of them.
